Impressive early Ottoman embroidered narrow long panel, probably from a suite of embroideries to decorate interior space. Possibly 18thc? Of the highest quality gold metallic dival embroidery, palace or court quality, very tight and dense in a repeat lozenge/arabesque design. The embroidery is done on a brown velvet ground that is very narrow selvage to selvage measures only 12″. The backing is thin leather with some fragments of paper. Rare early! In good but not perfect condition, would have had a backing that is now missing, and the gold metallic work has oxidized in most of the piece except for one very end which is bright and shiny. Measures 122″ long and 12″ wide.
