Very Early 17th Century Antique Italian Openwork Reticella Lace

Antique 16th-17th century Italian lace cutwork or openwork lace-textile panel with reticella. All linen densely worked in a window pane grid pattern, with horizontal bands of woven linen with cut out areas neatened by overcasting. Horizontal and vertical needlewoven bars worked on threads of the woven linen remaining in the pattern, overcast with finely worked buttonhole stitched bars and picots. In as found condition with numerous thin spots and breaks as shown in the images consistent with age. Uncleaned with one coin sized stain and age related yellowing.
