Antique (c. 1915-1918) Whimsical Iridescent Blue to Pink Silk Lace Cased Wrapper
Whimsical late teens extravagant, imaginative net and lace cased silk wrapper. Probably French dating to 1915-1918 approx. No labels. Made in a magical changeable iridescent silk of mostly a silvery blue with teal, pink and violet hues depending on the light. Just grand with fluffy layers of picot edged petals at shoulders, full swing shape with side openings for the arms, bias cut picot edged ruffles along opening edges with deep ruffled flounce at bottom. Has interior waist sash that comes out the sides for tying in the front, snap closure at the throat, all seams finished in the interior. With silk illusion netting overlay in a periwinkle color that has needle run embroidery and fine hand couching done in a tan cotton cording. A rare and Magnificent creation in excellent antique condition with no dryness or splitting, with one teeny hole on the bias cut flounce on one side, barely seen, couple other pin dot holes at the back tucked into the folds of the silk and a few small breaks to the illusion netting.
