Antique (c. 1820) Tambour Embroidered On India Mull Panel

 
Antique tambour embroidered panel, dating to 1820, done on a sheer cotton probably imported mull from India, possibly border embroidery from large shawl. The work and design elements are superb, with dense white tambour (chain stitch) with a variety of fill work stitches in a gorgeous basket of flower motif in repeat. In excellent overall antique condition. From a large collection of antique laces bought in Paris 1900-1910.

Measures 102″ long and 18″ wide. Raw edges top edge and bottom.
