Rare early Indo-Portugese embroidered textile, possibly made for the Portugese market in Goa in the 19thc. Central medallion floral design elements with several floral borders on a cinnamon colored silk satin ground. A distinctive Portugese embroidery technique adapted by the artisans in Goa using long bundles of silk floss satin stitch then top stitched down in a simple running stitch. In only fair condition with vertical tears in the central field and fray along sides as seen in the images, not backed.
