Antique hand Mechlin edging lace 12 yards

Impressive yardage on this Antique Mechlin edging lace, dating probably 1820-1830, when the toile was more and more replaced by the reseau. A light and airy lace with a silky luminous cordonnet. The reseau in a hexagonal mesh, two threads twisted twice on four sides and four threads plaited three times on the other two sides, these parallel with the footing. A lovely translucent pattern of florals in repeat. One continuous length adding up to 12 yards, looks virtually unused, you may find a break or two in all the yardage, overall excellent. Measures 4.5" wide. Out of a large collection of early hand made laces collected in Paris circa 1900-1910.
