ntique 1850 Exquisite Point de Gauze/Point de Angleterre lace large cream shawl w/provenance

Exquisite large combination Pt de Gauze and Pt d' Angleterre hand lace wedding shawl dating to the mid 19th century. These large shawls in these fine laces are extremely rare and may have take up to 10 women many months to complete, these were commissioned pieces made only for the very wealthy, the rich decoration and drawing illustrates the determination of the artists of the time to display the virtuosity of their expertise and aethetics to the fullest. This was worn in 1911 by Miss Helen Roosevelt Lincoln on her wedding day in Wareham, Mass. was left to her by her great aunt and namesake Mrs. Helen Schell of New York City. Gorgeous musuem worthy fine hand work beautiful executed and drawn with central floral medallion with lavish floral designs thruout. Sold as is uncleaned, with 15-18 pindot to slightly larger holes some with rust marks around them. Measures 57" from top edge to bottom point and measures 108" across top edge.
