Antique 18th century Continental silk fragment garnet silk with gold tinsel

Continental silk fragment dating to the 18th century Probably Italian possibly French. In a rich saturated garnet or cherry colored silk satin with supplementary gold tinsel weft beautiful simple floral design elements in glittering repeat, hand sewn backing in a blue silk this probably sewn on in the 19thc, with gold silk trim on four sides. Made up of two narrow panels that have been sewn together to make a single panel each panel measures 21", total width 42" by 41". Weighs 1.5 lbs.
